Tiakur, investigasibhayangkara.com — Chairman of the Maluku Provincial DPD I of the Golkar Party, Umar Ali Lessy, emphasized the importance of unity, organizational consolidation, and concrete work for the community in his remarks at the 4th Regional Conference (Musyawarah Daerah/Musda) of the DPD II Golkar Party of Maluku Barat Daya (MBD) Regency in 2026, Thursday (September 17, 2026).
In his speech, Umar stated that the history of the Golkar Party did not emerge from nothing. Rather, it developed through a process of struggle, faced the challenges of different eras, and was shaped by perseverance.
According to him, since its establishment in 1964, Golkar has served as a forum that brings together various social forces with the objective of serving Indonesia.
“Golkar is not merely a political organization. It is a movement based on work and achievement. We were not built by rhetoric, but by concrete action. We do not stand because of cheers, but because of the people’s trust,” Umar said in his remarks.
Umar also called on all cadres to make concrete work and service to the community an essential part of the Golkar Party’s presence.
Amid global uncertainty, ranging from geopolitical tensions and a slowdown in the global economy to technological changes, he said Indonesia must remain calm yet vigilant, while also being strong and adaptable in facing change.
In this context, Golkar is considered to have a role in maintaining resilience and supporting the direction of national development. He also highlighted the importance of diplomacy and strategic communication with various partners in addressing challenges, including issues related to national energy security.
Umar further emphasized that the strength of a political party is determined not only by its organizational structure, but also by the closeness of its cadres to the community.
“If we want to move further forward, we must strengthen our roots. Organizational consolidation must reach all the way to the villages. Cadre development must produce figures who are close to the people,” he said.
He added that the presence of Golkar cadres should be felt by the community not only during elections, but also in people’s everyday lives.
“Because true victory is not merely about the number of seats, but about the level of trust placed in us by the people,” he continued.
Strengthening the Kalwedo Values
In his remarks, Umar also highlighted Kalwedo, a philosophy of life among the people of MBD, as a value that remains relevant in strengthening togetherness and unity.
Kalwedo is regarded as a value that encourages people to live harmoniously, respect one another, and coexist amid diversity with a spirit of mutual assistance and solidarity.
According to Umar, these values are in line with the spirit of the Golkar Party, namely that power and politics should go hand in hand with service to the community.
In addition to Kalwedo, he also highlighted several local traditions in the MBD region, including the Limuk Limor Kweunun Kweamam tradition on Masela Island, which reflects a strong spirit of togetherness.
Mutual cooperation traditions such as Poliwu Moa and Roson on Kisar Island were also mentioned as part of the social wealth of the MBD community. These traditions teach that major problems cannot be solved by individuals alone.
Concluding his remarks, Umar called on all Golkar Party cadres to strengthen organizational unity, reinforce solidarity, and reaffirm their collective direction.
“Let us strengthen our ranks, reinforce unity, and reaffirm our commitment. Let Golkar become a warm home for the people, as well as a force that works tirelessly,” he said.
The 4th Regional Conference of the DPD II Golkar Party of Maluku Barat Daya Regency subsequently served as a momentum for organizational consolidation, evaluation of the party’s journey, and strengthening the commitment of cadres to remain present and work for the community.
