JAKARTA – Polda Metro Jaya is preparing security measures for the 2026 Simultaneous Village Head Elections (Pilkades) in Bekasi Regency, West Java, which are scheduled to take place in 154 villages on Sunday, September 20, 2026.
Security operations will be carried out through the Bekasi Metro Police (Polres Metro Bekasi) in coordination with relevant agencies. The security arrangements will be adjusted according to the conditions and potential security risks in each area.
Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner of Police Budi Hermanto, called on candidates, supporters, and members of the public to respect all stages of the village head election process and maintain good relations within the community.
“We encourage all parties to be prepared to accept both victory and defeat and not allow differences in political choices to become a source of conflict,” he said at Polda Metro Jaya on Friday (September 18, 2026).
The public has also been urged to avoid provocation, intimidation, threats, and any actions that could disrupt public security and order. Any objections or disputes are expected to be resolved through the applicable official mechanisms.
Polda Metro Jaya is also taking preventive measures against potential illegal gambling activities associated with the village head elections. The General Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimum), together with Bekasi Metro Police, will take action if indications of criminal gambling activities are found.
“Personnel have been instructed to prioritize a humane and professional approach during the security operation. We encourage the community to work together to maintain a safe and orderly situation throughout all stages of the village head elections,” Budi concluded.
